One will almost forget the man-made generated landscape when seeing the spectacular riverside next to Aarau`s historical centre. The fluidness of this environment and the flow of the river can be experienced through the transparent, fine and subtle design of our building. At sunset the fascinating gleam on the water is enhanced by the reflection on the glass façade. A calm but sculptural form defines the identity of the new building, which will occupy a prominent location on this riverside. The pragmatic structure of columns, which supports the heavy-duty crane, allows a higher flexibility of use. With concrete slab, side walls and pitched roof we try not only to frame the vista but as well the craftsmanship within the building. A strong relationship is created between the internal and external realms. "Form follows function" : The power station layout is designed to improve efficiency of operations, communications and ability to deliver effective local services. This solution also provides a clear urban and architectural strategy for future development to the other power station hall.
