EXTENSION OF THE CONVENTION CENTRE DAVOS BACK

The new designed extension of the convention centre in Davos turns the frayed out complex in a whole unit embedded in the generous space of the Kurpark. By relocating the main entrance to the Talstrasse, the convention centre will receive a new adequate access and more appropriate entrance situation. The starting point for the design of the extension is the existing plenary hall of Ernst Gisel. Transformed into the foyer of the new convention hall it will be used in an appropriate way without loosing its special quality. The principle of the two stories high entrance and of the lower placed hall will be carried on. The lower floor of the foyer takes the visitor into the new hall with an optimized geometry. The convention centre operates as a unit with a capable entrance area for huge events as well as three autonomous parts which can be used independently. The materials with larch wood and fair faced concrete support a growing together of the different buildings to an ensemble.
